I am a clothing designer/pattern maker. I started my business in 2003 sewing mid-19th century garments for historical interpreters. Around 2010, I decided to shift my focus toward designing my own clothing line and now I am creating sewing patterns full time. My favorite thing to sew are pants/jeans, specifically if they involve selvedge denim. I love the heritage of denim and how it has evolved over time. I’m also really into sewing blouses with puffed sleeves at the moment as well!

What influence does music have in your life as a creative?:

To be honest I don’t always listen to music while I work, and find myself listening to an audiobook or podcast more often (or nothing at all). I used to listen to music a lot more than I do now. Possibly because I have only just started using Spotify (very late to the game), and finding music I like can be tedious. My husband and I like to sit down after dinner and watch music videos on YouTube. He reminds me of my love of music, and the one who finds most of the stuff I enjoy listening to right now! Going to concerts have been the most inspiring to me, and I was fortunate to attend a few great ones last year (Weyes Blood, Cass McCombs). Being at a live performance forces you to stop what you are doing and just enjoy the music completely, without any distractions. It’s such a wonderful experience, and I hope to attend more concerts in 2020.

This playlist is a mix of easy listening tunes with some beats thrown in for fun! It will make you feel super chill one moment, and the next you’re probably going to want to have an impromptu dance party (if that’s your thing)!
